Narrow aisle forklifts
Usually utilized in warehouse applications is the Narrow Aisle Forklift. These kinds of forklifts are essential machines in the industry since their excellent maneuverability and small size enable warehouses to maximize storing space. They can easily negotiate aisles which are 1.8 meters wide, while typical lift trucks need at least 3.4 meters of aisle width.
The two types are "narrow aisle forklift" and the "very narrow aisle forklift". The former require 2.4 meters - 3 meters in aisle width, whilst the second can function in a 1.8 meters wide space.
The design of a narrow aisle forklift includes forks positioned at right angles to the body of the truck. The trucks do not need to face the shelves, but instead drive straight down the aisle picking up loads to the side. This design feature is the key to their suitability for tight spaces.
To be able to make certain that the forklift is moving in a straight line down the aisle, several very narrow aisle forklifts comprise optical or wire systems. That way, the operator can concentrate more on the picking and the placement of loads.
The cushion tires which come with these types of lifts are made of solid rubber. The hard tires perform well on concrete floors and paved, smooth surfaces. Narrow aisle forklifts have electric motors that is best utilized within indoor environments. Propane-powered models are available too.
