Clark Counterbalance Forklifts New Mexico

The forklift is a material handling device utilized to raise and transport loads from one place to another. Each part of a forklift has a particular function. Different components can be used to transport the load horizontally or vertically.

Mast
The parts utilized to lower and lift the load is called the forklift mast. There are different kinds of masts utilized for raising loads to various heights: simplex, duplex, triplex and quad.

Power Supply
Forklifts have four different ways of being powered: gas, electric, propane and diesel. The battery is situated in the cab under the seat. The propane tank is on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is underneath the back of the truck.

Cab
The forklift cab is situated in the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The steering wheel, gas pedal, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all located within the cab.

Frame
Carrying all the biggest forklift components is the truck frame. This consists of the counterweights located at the rear that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
