Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to store supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck is available in quite a few kinds: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The simplest kind is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular model consists of telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This model is best in situations where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Normally more than one type of reach truck is needed inside warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and could maximize available storage space while increasing production.
