Manitou Forklifts New Mexico
Regular inspections could really help to lessen forklift repairs and save you copious amounts of money in the long-run. The standing joke within the industry is a forklift technician coining the saying "Pay me now, or pay me later," because it usually costs more to procrastinate when it comes to lift trucks. Like for example, the minor fixes that go unrepaired could eventually turn into expensive repairs.
Oil leaks are a really serious problem if they are not checked. Inspect for damage or oil leaks on a regular basis. Oil leakage can cause uncontrolled mast movement and this could be very dangerous. Whether the leaks are in the cylinder or external, the outcome could result in loss of vital fluid and cylinder drift. When leaks or damage are detected, you usually would need to replace the seals or the entire cylinder assembly.
Be sure to pay attention since you don't want mast lift chains to stretch beyond acceptable limits. Watch carefully for any indications of damage or wear and tear. Check regularly with a chain wear gauge so as to monitor the wear. If the chain is rusted or worn beyond 2 percent, it is time to replace the chain. Following these guidelines would help keep your machine functioning optimally.
When operating the lift control lever, the mast needs to be moved down and up smoothly, making sure to check if the mast is moving smoothly forwards and backwards. You may have to lubricate the mast strip sliding surfaces if the sliding surfaces are binding. Lubricate their fittings too, as there is a fitting located on both sides of the inner mast. The lift bracket side rollers are one more lubrication spot.
Inspect the forks and look for damage, wear and cracks. It is essential to remember that worn or cracked forks could possibly fail without any warning. Of course, any fork damage means taking the truck out of service at once. If the cracks are deeper than just on the surface, they have to be replaced as they truly can't be safely repaired.
